Welcome to our website! We are very excited to highlight the "short" members of our family. If any of you know us, we are often referred to the "Tall Family" but this website is mostly about the short legged members in our house, the Corgis! We hope you enjoy this site and the time you spend getting to know us a little better. It's interesting how loving a breed of dog can open up the world to so many new people who share a common bond--their fascination for the the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. HOW THIS ALL CAME TO BE!
I was born into a dog crazy home with German Shepherds which later transitioned over to showing Rottweilers as a family hobby with my parents. My first step into the AKC ring was in 1976 and I have been hooked ever since. We had owned and bred champion Rottweilers; several which were specialty winners and campaigned a female to the #5 spot in the top ten back in the early 80’s. After I married Tom and we had our son, Alex, I decided to scale back to a more manageable size breed but one that had the enthusiasm of a larger working breed. At a conformation class in the early 90’s I met a Pembroke Welsh Corgi and haven’t been without one since.
Our first champion was from the Vahaly’s, Ch Pennington Humphrey Bogart. “Hugo” was the perfect starter dog for me to learn how to groom and show a Pembroke on, together we won five Herding Group I placements as well as many other group wins in the all breed ring.
Our foundation bitch is our “Daphni”, Ch Pot O’ Gold’s Allure At Perilane, sired by Ch Renefield GQ At Peri Lane, who really stamped a look on our dogs. Every Corgi in our house, with the exception of our two Australian Imports, goes back to Daphni. Our pride and joy at Peri Lane is our “Dylan”, BISS Ch Peri Lane The Ghost Dancer; he is from our first home bred litter; I consider it to be an honor to be at the end of his lead.
Our kennel prefix was taken from our first champion Corgi bitch, Ch Renefield Periwinkle. I enjoy showing at specialties both young dogs and the treasured veterans we have today.
My husband, Tom, and I have a singleton of our own, our 19 year old son, Alex. Alex is attending the University of Wisconsin and majoring in Pre-Architecture and Landscape Design; he is also on the Wisconsin Badger Men’s Track and Field Team training as a Decathlete. We are very proud of Alex and our Peri Lane Corgis.
